Buenos Aires foi a cidade escolhida para os primeiros testes de um novo método de detecção de Covid-19. O sistema, que recebeu o nome de IATos, compara gravações de áudio de tosse entre pacientes que podem estar infectados com pacientes diagnosticados com Covid-19.

Usando Inteligência Artificial, a Secretaria de Informação e Transformação Digital de Buenos Aires criou um sistema efetivo e que pode ser útil no diagnóstico da doença. O único requisito é o usuário possuir um smartphone e um plano de internet.

O teste piloto foi realizado com 2.687 pessoas e o sistema indicou que 554 delas poderiam resultar positivas para Covid-19. O grupo realizou um teste final onde foi comprovado que 436 estavam infectadas com o vírus. Portanto o sistema teve 86% de efetividade.
